Creating an Athletics Results Banner

Site Manager > Design > Page Banners

Note: Directions are for use of a right banner but can be applied to left as well.

Start by cloning a banner.

You can create a banner that will show athletic results by starting in the Page Banners section of your site.  Your best bet is to clone an existing right banner that has already been created for use on your inner site pages. This is helpful as it will already have certain settings applied that you may want to reuse, such as banner width.  Once you have cloned a RIGHT banner, renamed and saved it, then you can begin modifying the banner by removing any elements that you don't need, and adding elements you will need.

You will need to add an "athletic_events element" to your banner (see screenshot below). You will find this list of elements in the lower left section of your banner list.

Now apply the following settings.

  1. Specify an amount for "# of days to display before today."
  2. Set the "# of days to display after today" to zero (0) so your banner is only showing events from the past.
  3. Set your "Max events to display" according to the amount of events you would like to show results for. Please consider the amount of space that will be needed to display these events in the banner.  You can always come back and change this if you selected a number too high or too low for your needs.
  4. Check the box that reads "Only show events with results." (See screenshot below.)

Note: If the event also has a recap added in athletic manager, users will see a link for it in that banner.

USER TIP

You can also select the types of events to include in this banner, allowing you the ability to exclude things like practices, which would typically not have a result.  Fill in all other fields according to your needs.  Please be sure to SAVE your new banner and PUBLISH your new banner for use on your site.
