Upload files to dropbox: size and file types allowed

Files uploaded to Dropboxes will count against your school's disk space usage. A user can upload 100MB worth of information if they are browsing their computer. If they are using file manager, they are limited by the space that is allocated to them via their constituent role.

Allowed file types:

  • Images (.gif, .jpg, .png)
  • Word (.doc, .docx, .docm, .dotx, .dotm)
  • Excel (.xls, .xlsx, .xlsm, .xltx, .xltm)
  • PowerPoint (.ppt, .pptx, .pps, .ppsx, .pptm, .potx, .potm)
  • Adobe Acrobat (.pdf)
  • HTML (.htm or .html)
  • Text (.txt)
  • .rtf
  • .ico
  • Zip (.zip)
  • Audio (.wav, .mp3)
  • Video (.mpg, .mpeg, .avi, .qt, .mov, .MP4, .M4v  )
  • Javascript (.js)
  • Stylesheet (.css)

Executable files cannot be uploaded (and even if an executable file were loaded, it cannot be run on the web server; this prevents any files that might potentially carry a virus from actually infecting the web server). If you need to upload a file type you don't see here, you can submit a Support ticket and we can either upload it for you, or make the adjustment to add it to the list of allowed file types.

To use the "Download all Submissions" feature, the files together must be below 1GB.
