This article refers to our legacy product, Registration Manager, which will no longer be available and support for the product will be discontinued, effective August 1, 2023. For the best Finalsite experience, we recommend using our Finalsite Forms Plus add-on, which provides a more robust and modern solution for online registration needs. Visit our client portal for additional information and next steps.
There are two ways to display Registration Manager events on Composer pages: either display Registration elements on a Page Manager page then use an iFrame on a Composer page, or link to an event from a Calendar entry. Site admins can use either or both method for any event they want to promote. This article explains both procedures.
Page Manager page
-
Go to Page Manager. See Quick tip: Accessing Page Manager and top navigation from Composer to find out more.
-
Click the "Add Page" or "add main page" link on the left side of the window. Refer to Adding a New Page (Page Manager) for more detailed instructions about creating a new page.
-
Change the page type to "Registration Manager." The page format will default to "Registration Event," which is correct.
-
Click "Save this Page."
-
Click "advanced controls" in the blue bar of the General Page Info box and disable any of the checkboxes above the page title that are checked.
-
Rename the page to the title of the registration it will display.
-
Scroll down and select the event that you wish to display using the radio button next to it.
-
In the "Page Banners and Layout" section, ensure that no banners are selected for the page.
-
Save the page using the green "Save This Page" button at the top or bottom of the screen, and then publish the page using the link at the top.
-
Find and save the page URL, which is located in the General Page Info box.
-
Return to Composer and create a new page, or go to the page you wish to display the registration on.
-
Add an Embed element to the page and access the element settings.
-
In the field labeled "Code," paste in the following code.
<iframe src="Add Page Manager link here" width="100%" height="1200px"></iframe>
-
Replace the text "Add Page Manager link here" with the link for your Page Manager page, leaving the quotation marks around it.
Important: Change "http" in the URL to "https". -
Save and close the element settings.
-
Publish the page.
Calendar entry display
A slightly easier way to display a Registration Manager event on a Composer page is to go through Calendar Manager. Note that this method will link to an unformatted version of the registration event,
Event setup
-
Create a new event (from the "Dashboard" or "Events" tab).
-
Give the event a title, and set the time/date.
-
Select the calendar you'd like the event to appear on.
-
Add a description.
-
Check the "Include Registration Manager Event" checkbox.
-
Select your event from the dropdown. (Note: Only events that have fully completed setup will display here. If you do not see your event, check to make sure all data fields are filled out, including host name and registration window.)
-
Leave the Display Format option as "Event Registration."
-
Save and publish your event.
Displaying it on the page
-
In Composer, add a Calendar element to your page.
-
Open the element settings.
-
Select the Event display format.
-
Select the "Display specific event occurrence" radio button.
-
Enter the occur ID from the event with your registration included.
Note: The easiest way to find this number is to go to a Calendar Grid or List element that’s displaying the event, set the element to open event details in a page, then hover over the link to see the URL in the bottom of your browser. The occur ID is the number after /~occur-id/ in the URL. -
Adjust any other settings desired and save the element settings.
-
Publish the page.
The element will now display your event, as well as a link for users to register.
