Submit XML sitemaps to Google Search Console

Search engines such as Google use a "sitemap" to better understand your site's structure. A dynamic XML sitemap file has been built into your website for this purpose.

One good reason to provide a sitemap to Google is so that your site's structure will be reflected in site category links under your Google search entry.

Composer

  1. Log in to Google Search Console.

  2. Under the "Site Map" column on the Google Dashboard, click "add."

  3. Enter http://www.yoursite.com/fs/pages/sitemap.xml into the field provided. (Substitute your school's address in place of www.yoursite.com.)

  4. Click "Submit Sitemap."

  5. Please note that Composer sitemaps are dynamically created, and submitting them to Google is most useful after significant changes have been made to your site.

Page Manager

  1. Log in to Google's Search Console.

  2. Under the "Site Map" column on the Google Dashboard, click "add."

  3. Enter http://www.yoursite.com/xmlsitemap.cfm into the field provided. (Substitute your school's address in place of www.yoursite.com.)

  4. Click "Submit Sitemap."

Note: The reports may take several hours to update initially.
