Resources admin permissions

In this article, we’ll describe the process for granting admin permissions within Resources.

Resources is available to any admin user groups who have “Composer” permissions checked off in Admin Users. You can set permissions for the overall module, individual folders, and individual galleries.

Module permissions

To access the module permissions, go to the Permissions tab. For each group, choose the level of access from the dropdown menu.

  • Admin: This setting gives the users in that group full access to the Resources module, including the Permissions and Deleted Resources tabs.

  • View, Upload & Edit: This setting gives the users limited access to the Resources and Galleries tabs of the module. Admins will be able to view, edit, and delete public and private resources; upload new resources and add resources to galleries; and add new resource folders and galleries. They do not, however, have the right to delete or edit settings on any of the folders or galleries.

  • Not Allowed: This setting means that the admin group will not have access to anything in Resources by default. Rights may be granted to specific folders or galleries individually.

Folder permissions

To access folder permissions, go to the three-dot menu for the folder on the Resources tab, select Settings, and click on the Permissions tab. Search for a specific user or click “Select Group” and choose a group. Then select the level of access from the dropdown menu.

  • View: This setting will allow the user to view the resources in that folder. Users can also add resources from that folder to galleries they have permissions for (described below).

  • View, Edit, Delete all folder contents: This setting means that users have access to manipulate all the resources in the folder, but not the folder itself. Users can upload new resources, edit resource properties, move resources to another folder they have access to, delete resources, or replace resources.

  • View, Edit, Delete this folder: This setting adds the rights to edit the settings of the folder and delete the folder.

  • Admin: This setting adds the ability to assign permission levels to other groups or constituents.

Gallery permissions

To access gallery permissions, go to the three-dot menu for the gallery on the Galleries tab, select Settings, and click on the Permissions tab. Search for a specific user or click “Select Group” and choose a group. Then select the level of access from the dropdown menu.

Gallery permissions are very similar to folder permissions, above. Gallery rights do not confer the ability to edit the resources themselves, only to add or remove resources from that gallery.

Board folder permissions

In addition to the regular resources folders, Resources includes folders for each board in Posts.

Permissions for these folders are inherited based on a user's Posts permissions. Anyone who has rights to a board in Posts will automatically have access to that board's corresponding folder in Resources, regardless of whether or not they have any other Resources rights. To control rights to these folders, adjust the permission settings in Posts.
