Step 1: Find Tip Line

Tip Line in the Finalsite Mobile App is available to districts that use Messages XR Enterprise and have set up Tip Line. It works whether or not the person is signed in to the app. Tip Line is available on the mobile app for iPhone, iPad, and Android; it is not available on the web version of the app.

Tip Line availability and location depend on how the district or school has set up the feature.

  • If the district or school has a mobile app, look for a Tip Line option in the app's navigation, either the bottom bar or the More menu.
  • Tip Line may also be located on the district or school website as a widget.
  • A dedicated phone number may also be listed on the district or school website.

Step 2: Send a tip

Tip Line access depends on how the district or school has configured the feature. The following submission methods may be available:

Submit a tip in the app

Signing in is not required. Open Tip Line from the app's navigation.

  • Write the tip.
  • Select a category, and a school if school selection is turned on.
  • Choose to stay Anonymous, or add a name plus a phone number or email. Only one of phone or email is needed.

⚠️ Important Note

Districts and schools decide if the Anonymous option is available. If the option is not shown or is greyed out, a name and other details are required to submit a tip.

  • Optionally include the device's Location, with a View Map link to confirm it, and a photo.
  • Select Submit.

After sending, the app shows the district's receipt message together with a tip code. Keep the tip code for reference.

911 reminder

A banner may appear at the top of the screen when the district has turned this on, for example "If this is an emergency, call 911." The text is translated into the app's selected language.

If the district has a Tip Line phone number set up, a Call us button also appears and dials the number directly. When the district has voice disguise turned on for phone tips, callers are told their voice will be disguised before the call connects. Voice disguise only applies to phone calls; it has no effect on tips submitted in the app or on the website widget.

Call or text the Tip Line number

  • Call, dial, or text the number the district provides as the Tip Line.
  • Leave a message following the instructions provided.

This is the same number available as the Call us button inside the app, when configured. Recording a voice message inside the app is not available; voice tips are by phone only.

Use the Tip Line website widget

Some districts may offer the ability to submit tips through the district or school website.

  • Complete the fields in the Tip Line widget on the website.
  • Select Submit tip when ready.

Step 3: Understand anonymous tips

Anonymity settings are controlled by the district. Depending on configuration, contact information may be optional, required, or defaulted to anonymous. If the Anonymous toggle is not shown, the district requires a name plus a phone number or email.
