Themes control visual and behavioral properties of a page via Cascading Style Sheets and JavaScript, accessed in the Composer section of the left-hand navigation. This article walks through each field in Composer Themes settings, including Theme Name, CSS Assets, JavaScript Assets, and Form Stylesheet.
đź’ˇQuick answers
- Where are the Themes controls located? In the Composer section of the left-hand navigation bar.
- What does the Theme Name field do? Sets a label for the theme so multiple themes (e.g., Athletics Theme, Campaign Microsite Theme) can be distinguished in the Themes list.
- Adding additional CSS or JavaScript files to a theme? Click the green + button next to CSS Assets or JavaScript Assets to add a new file beyond the defaults.
- Where are Form-specific styles uploaded? In the Form Stylesheet field. CSS uploaded under the general CSS Assets does not apply to Form elements.

Themes allow you to quickly change the visual, behavioral and other properties of a page (or multiple pages!) on your site.
You'll find the Themes controls in the "Composer" section of the left-hand nav bar.
Themes work by applying unique Cascading Style Sheets and JavaScript to your page(s) - you can check out this KB article about CSS and JavaScript for more details about how it all works.
When you open up the Composer Themes settings, you'll see several fields:
- Theme Name - You can give each theme a name to distinguish it (such as "Athletics Theme" or "Campaign Microsite Theme")
- CSS Assets - click the green "+" button to add an additional .css file to the defaults which already exist
- JavaScript Assets -Â click the green "+" button to add an additional .js file to the defaults which already exist
- Form Stylesheet - Use this control to upload .css stylesheets specifically for styling Forms
If you have questions about how to configure your stylesheets, contact Finalsite Support to get more information on how they should be structured.
