Limit total form submissions

New Forms supports a submission limit that automatically closes a form once a maximum number of responses has been received. This is useful for capped events, limited-availability programs, or surveys with a target response count.

  • Where do you set a submission limit on a form? In the form's Settings tab (after saving the form); find the Submissions section and enable the submission limit option, then enter the maximum number of allowed responses.
  • What happens when a form reaches its submission limit? The form automatically closes and displays a message to visitors indicating it is no longer accepting responses; no further submissions can be made.
  • Can the submission limit be changed after the form is active? Yes; update the limit in the form's Settings tab at any time; if you increase the limit on a form that already closed, it will reopen for additional responses.

In certain cases, such as an event with limited availability, it may be helpful to stop allowing submissions on your form once you have as many as you can accommodate.

The maximum number of submissions a form will accept can be defined in the form's General Settings. When the maximum is reached, the form will deactivate and display a custom message.

To define a maximum submission limit:

  1. Go to the form's Settings tab.
  2. Toggle "Enable Max Submissions" and enter the submission limit.
  3. Add a message in the content field to be displayed when the limit is reached.
