Eligibility and setup

  • Which schools use the Student view? Schools with the Finalsite Mobile App and Messages XR Enterprise receiving SIS data. Modules depend on what the SIS provides.
  • What does Finalsite set up? The Finalsite implementation team confirms the SIS integration into Messages XR Enterprise and turns on Student Information. Parent-student relationships exist in Constituent Manager.
  • What happens when the school adds a data type to its SIS later? The module appears automatically once the data is available.

Information and accuracy

  • What information do families see? Depending on the SIS: grades, attendance, schedules, assignments, cafeteria balances, bus information, library, alerts, and report card documents. Experiences differ by school.
  • How current is the information? The app keeps no copy and queries Messages XR Enterprise each time a screen opens. Information is as current as the school's last SIS sync, which varies by integration.
  • How do families take action, such as adding funds? When the school's Messages XR Enterprise data includes a cafeteria URL, the Cafeteria button opens it. Schools can also add a custom link to a third-party system.
  • How do notifications work for new grades, absences, or low balances? Notifications arrive as regular push notifications. Schools can create threshold alerts with automated messages in Messages XR Enterprise, and tapping one opens the related student information. Notifications are managed in the user's app settings.
  • How do documents work offline? Documents open from a secure link each time. A copy downloaded or shared from the document screen opens offline.
  • Where do the Cafeteria and Library buttons come from? From URLs in the school's Messages XR Enterprise data. Each button appears when its URL is in the data.
  • How are screens translated? The app follows existing language support. Values such as course and teacher names display as the SIS provides them.

Access and privacy

  • Who sees a student's information? Only the parents and guardians linked to that student, including blended families. Access follows each parent's linked children.
  • Where is the information stored? The information lives in Messages XR Enterprise and is retrieved live. Report card documents are served through secure, per-user access.
  • What changes for teachers, staff, visitors, and alumni? Everything stays the same. They keep the existing experience.
