"Copying" events vs. "Cloning" events

Calendar Manager offers two ways to duplicate an event: cloning creates a completely independent copy that can be edited separately, while copying and pasting creates a linked copy that updates automatically when either the original or the copy is edited.

💡Quick answers

  • What is the difference between cloning and copying an event in Calendar Manager? Cloning creates a completely independent duplicate; changes to one do not affect the other. Copying and pasting creates a linked duplicate; a change to either event automatically updates both.
  • When should you clone instead of copy an event? When you want two separate events with the same starting details that can be edited independently, such as the same recurring event on different days with different details.
  • Does updating a copied event also change the original? Yes; copied events are linked, so a change to either one updates both automatically.

Learn more about New Calendars:

Cloning an event will allow you to create a completely separate event that has the exact same information. If you edit one of the events, it will not change the other as they are distinctly different events.

Copying and pasting an event creates another event that is tied to the original. This means that if you update one event, it automatically updates the other.
