Correcting Google Maps directions

This article explains how to correct inaccurate Google Maps directions for a school location, including adding supplemental directions in Athletics Manager and reporting more severe map errors to Google directly.

💡Quick answers

  • Fixing a minor Google Maps location error? Go to Athletics Manager > Locations, select the location, and enter clarifying text in the Directions field to supplement the map's directions.
  • Reporting a severe Google Maps error? Steps: click Help and Feedback in the upper right of Google Maps, select Report a data problem, choose the appropriate error type with clarifying details, then click Submit.
  • Can Finalsite fix incorrect directions on Google Maps directly? No; Google reviews and makes corrections to its own map data, so significant errors must be reported directly to Google.
  • Who reviews a submitted Google Maps data problem report? Google reviews the report and makes the correction if they agree the data is inaccurate.

Here are some options for correcting Google Maps location errors or inaccuracies:

A) If the error is minor, you can add a disclaimer or supplemental directions by going to Athletics Manager > Locations, select the location, and entering text in the Directions field:

B) For more severe location errors, you can report the problem to Google:

  1. At the upper-right of the Google Maps screen, click "Help and Feedback"
  2. Select "Report a data problem" from the dropdown menu that appears

  3. Select the appropriate error, and optionally add in any clarifying details, then click "Submit."

Google will review and make the correction (assuming they agree).
