We all know that plans and events have to be changed sometimes. It's important for your community to keep looped in on the most current status of an athletics event. This article will help you to understand the options available for managing and updating your Event Status in Athletics Manager.

Athletics Manager events are pushed to various parts of your communication platform. For this reason, it's important to understand how to manage these events at their origin: in the Athletics Manager module.
To begin managing your events in Athletics Manager, navigate to your Dashboard > Event Overview. Hover on the event you'd like to manage or make adjustments to until you see the edit pencil.
Once you've decided you need to adjust an event that already exists in Athletics Manager, it's important for you to understand the terminology so you can make the best decision and make the change as clear as possible to your community.
The four Event Statuses you can change to are: --Unset--, Changed, Cancelled, and Postponed.
Event Status: Unset
Before you make any changes to an event, you'll notice the status dropdown displays the word "Unset." This means there are no changes to this event.
Event Status: Changed
While editing a specific event, you can select Changed from the dropdown when you have changed, edited, or added any details to this event.
Once you click save:
- an alert will be sent to all subscribers
- the message entered into the Change Details field where display wherever this event is synced to display (e.g. in Athletics Event Elements or Calendar Elements on Composer Pages, as well as Mobile App Athletics screen).
- This change will be reflected anywhere this event is synced in 15 minutes.
Event Status: Cancelled
Want to cancel an event altogether? Your best route is to change the event status to Cancelled instead of Deleting the event.
Canceling vs Deleting
You may think Deleting an event would be the best course of action in the case of an athletic event being cancelled.
Deleting an event:
- It will take up to 48 hours for the event to disappear off of your site and mobile app.
- Parents who had subscribed to the event or even remembered seeing it posted somewhere will experience confusion.
- Even worse, they may still see the deleted event and make plans to attend if still within the 48-hour window. (Learn more in the article, "Off-feed utility > Delete Athletic Events.")
As a best practice, don't delete! Instead, change your Event Status to Canceled so that:
- Subscribers will receive an alert.
- The event will still appear anywhere this has been synced on your site or mobile app and will display the word, Canceled, next to the event.
- Changes may take up to an hour to appear in Finalsite once the status change has been made.
Event Status: Postponed
When an event needs to be postponed or rescheduled, select Postponed in your dropdown. You can add Postponement Details and even check the box to Create a new event after saving this one that will display the updated event information.
