Google Analytics 4: How to see your most visited pages

This article details how to find the most visited pages on a Finalsite website using Google Analytics 4 (GA4), including how to navigate to the Pages and screens report and how to read page view data.

💡 Quick answers

  • Where are most visited pages found in GA4? Navigate to Reports > Engagement > Pages and screens. The report lists pages ranked by views, highest to lowest.
  • What does the "Views" column show? Views is the total number of times a page was loaded during the selected date range.
  • Is GA4 data available immediately? No. Standard GA4 reports have a 24-48 hour processing delay. The Realtime report shows activity from the past 30 minutes only.

Before finding most visited pages

⚠️ Important Note

GA4 must be connected to the Finalsite CMS before page traffic data is available. If GA4 has not been set up yet, see Set up Google Analytics 4 on a Composer site before continuing.

Find most visited pages in GA4

  • Step 1: Go to analytics.google.com and open the GA4 property.
  • Step 2: In the left navigation, select Reports.
  • Step 3: Under Lifecycle, select Engagement.
  • Step 4: Select Pages and screens. For more detail on this report, see Google's Pages and screens report documentation.
  • Step 5: The report displays pages ranked by Views, highest to lowest. These are the most visited pages.

Understand the report columns

Column What it means
Page title The name of the page as set in the Finalsite CMS
Page path The URL path for the page (for example, /about/our-story)
Views Total number of times the page was loaded during the selected date range
Users Number of unique visitors who viewed the page
Average engagement time How long visitors typically spent on the page before navigating away
Entrances How often the page was the first page a visitor landed on when arriving at the site

Tips for using the report

  • Sort by any column. Select a column header to sort the report by that metric. Select again to reverse the order.
  • Change the date range. Use the date picker in the top right to focus on a specific period, such as the last 30 days or back-to-school season.
  • Search for a specific page. Use the search bar above the table to filter results by page title or path. Useful for large sites with many pages.
  • Low traffic numbers? GA4 may apply data thresholding on smaller sites to protect user privacy. This is expected behavior and does not indicate a tracking error.
  • Data not appearing yet? Standard reports have a 24-48 hour processing delay. If GA4 was recently set up, check again the following day.

 Real-world scenarios

Common ways schools use the Pages and screens report:

  • Identify which athletics, calendar, or news pages get the most traffic to prioritize content updates there first.
  • Check which pages visitors land on most often (Entrances) to confirm those pages make a strong first impression.
  • Compare traffic before and after a homepage redesign to measure the impact on page visits.
