Finalsite + CrazyEgg: Get started and understand how it works

This article guides the first steps with CrazyEgg on a Finalsite site, including what is set up at launch and where to find CrazyEgg training.

Understand what is set up at launch

CrazyEgg runs through a small tracking script on the site, and Finalsite adds the script during the project. This applies to all clients with the legacy Finalsite Insights service in their contract, those implementing the new Imagine Design Experience, or those with "Insights and Optimization" consulting in their contract. According to CrazyEgg, web analytics and live view start working as soon as the script is installed. Heatmaps and other features are created in the CrazyEgg dashboard.

Data collection starts once the site is live, because live visitors are needed to show real behavior.

⚠️ Important Note

A heatmap tracks only the page it was created for. Pages without a heatmap do not appear in heatmap reports.

Start when the invitation arrives

Getting started begins once admins receive the invitation from CrazyEgg. More details are coming soon. After signing in, the CrazyEgg overview video tour shows how the dashboard is organized.
