This article explains how the Student view works in Finalsite's Mobile App, including how to find the Student navigation item in the bottom toolbar, switch between children, and where to find step-by-step help for each area.
💡 Quick answers
- What can I find in the Student navigation item in the bottom toolbar? A personalized area of the Mobile App where parents, guardians, and students view grades, attendance, schedule, cafeteria and library balances, bus information, and documents such as report cards.
- Who sees the Student icon in the toolbar? Parents, guardians, and students whose school has turned on Student Data and whose account is linked to a student. Teachers, staff, visitors, and alumni keep the existing experience of news, events, and directories.
- Where is the Student view? In the app's bottom toolbar.
- How is another child viewed? A toggle at the top of the Student view switches between every child linked to the account.
- Where are corrections made? In the school's source systems. The Student view is a view-only display of the information the school provides.

Find the Student view
The Student view brings student information into the same school-branded app used for news, events, and directories. One login covers both, so families no longer move between separate apps to check grades, attendance, or balances.
Log in to the app with the school account first. Then follow these steps.
- Step 1: Open the app and log in.
- Step 2: Tap Student in the bottom toolbar.
- Step 3: In the Student view, you can browse the available modules, such as grades, attendance, cafeteria balance, library, bus, and documents.
Switch between children
Families with more than one child linked to the account see a toggle at the top of the Student view. Selecting a different child switches every module to that student's information. The children shown come from the relationships on file with the school, so each parent sees their own linked children.
Understand which modules appear
Each school provides a different set of information, so each module appears when it has information to show. Attendance displays No absences recorded when the list is empty, and cafeteria and library appear when the school allows them. Two families at different schools may see different modules in the same app.
The information is as current as the school's last system sync. The Updated time at the bottom of the Student view shows when the app last loaded the information, and pulling down refreshes it. Contact the school office for questions about what appears.
Manage notifications for student information
Notifications about student information arrive as regular push notifications. Schools can set up alerts based on thresholds, such as a new grade, an absence, or a low balance. Parents can configure these alerts by logging in to their Messages XR Enterprise account, and tapping a notification opens the related student information.
Notifications are managed in the user's app settings area. For steps, see Mobile App and Chat for families: Manage subscriptions and notifications.
