Add legal pages to your store

When you run an online business, it may be necessary for your website to display legal information on your terms of services, privacy policy, shipping terms, and so on. This article explains how to add this information in your store, as well as why each page is important.

Adding legal pages in the store

Online store allows creating the following legal pages:

  • Terms and conditions
  • Privacy policy
  • Shipping and payment info
  • Return policy
  • About us

You can enable display of these pages in your online store Control panel in the Settings > Legal section.

In the "Legal pages and policies" section, click on the "Add Page" button to open the page's settings and content form. You can create the page in Composer and attach the page's URL, or use the fields to add page content and a custom title.

The page links will be automatically attached and shown in your store.

Requiring customers to agree to store terms before checkout

Usually, customers are prompted to accept the terms and conditions prior to making a purchase. You can enable the “Require consent to terms and conditions at checkout" setting in Settings > Legal. Customers will have to select the checkbox "I agree with Terms and Conditions" above the “Checkout” button. “Terms and Conditions” will be a linked to a popup that displays the page, as well as links to the other legal pages you have enabled in your control panel.

Recommended legal pages and content

What legal pages you need, and what content they should display, depends on your business type, what you sell, what regulations are imposed by your government, and so on. You should look through your website and store content and evaluate what type of legal information you need. You may want to hire a lawyer for consultation, to make sure you meet all regulations.
