Set a preferred language

By default, chat translation follows the phone's language settings as set in the mobile app. If that language is unsupported, the app defaults to English. A preferred language can be set during initial setup or changed at any time in App Profile Settings > Preferences > Language.

Step 1: Select a preferred language from the picker.
Step 2: Tap Next to continue setup.
Step 1: Tap the profile bubble in the top right corner of the app to open the Account screen.

Step 2: Under Preferences, tap Language. The current language (e.g., "English") is shown next to the row.
Step 3: Select a language from the picker. The Apply button appears.
Step 4: Tap Apply. The app switches to the selected language.

Use the language picker

The language picker lists all 196 supported languages in Suggested languages and Other languages sections. Each language shows both its native name and English name. Use the search bar to find a language by either - for example, typing "Spanish" or "Espanol" both return the same result.

To exit without saving a change, tap the back arrow. Any unconfirmed selection is discarded.

  • Does translation work for images or PDF attachments? No. The translation engine processes text-based content only. Text inside images (such as a photo of a flyer) or uploaded PDFs remains in the original language. Adding a text summary to the chat message ensures all recipients can understand the key details of an attachment.
  • Can the sender's original wording be seen? Yes. Tap any translated message to toggle back to the original language. Tap again to return to the translation.
  • What happens in a group chat if everyone speaks a different language? Each participant in a group chat sees messages in their own preferred language. For example, if a coach sends a message in English, a Spanish-speaking parent sees it in Spanish and a Vietnamese-speaking parent sees it in Vietnamese - all within the same thread.
