Now that you understand what LaunchPad is, you are ready to start clicking through the tabs to confirm and fill out any additional details that will populate onto your site.
This article will provide you with details that you may need to reference for each tab of LaunchPad.

As you progress through the tabs, each one will have specific information for you to confirm and approve. All of your work will be saved automatically, so feel free to make any edits on the spot! Let’s see how it works!
Tab 1. District and School Info
Important Note
This tab has been pre-populated by NCES (National Center for Education Statistics) for efficiency. When data is pulled from there, certain pieces of information may be missing or inaccurate, including the URL, especially if there are plans to change this on your new build. Please look closely at the details pre-populated into LaunchPad and make edits as needed.
- Review the information you see. Scroll side to side to see hidden columns.
- Edit: Click into any field to adjust or correct any details (e.g. change HS to High School, change newly-named schools or centers).
- Add new school: Click this button to add any missing schools into a new row beneath the existing ones.
- Delete: Click the trash can icon to remove any schools that won’t be included in your site build.
- Approve: Once you toggle on Approve for all of your rows, the Approve all toggle will automatically complete this tab.
Auto-Save Feature!
Want to come back and change something later? No worries! The details won’t be locked until you confirm everything and click the Final Approve button in Tab 6.
Tab 2. School URL and motto
This is where you'll input and configure the URLs to access each of your sites. You can also add mottos and subtitles if your theme highlights or showcases these.
- Review the information you see. Scroll side to side to see hidden columns.
- Edit: Adjust any names. These will set the way that the names will populate onto your sites.
- Add new school: Click this button to add any missing schools into a new row beneath the existing ones.
- Delete: Click the trash can icon to remove any schools that won’t be included in your site build.
- Approve: Once you toggle on Approve for all of your rows, the Approve all toggle will automatically complete this tab.

School URL: Enter your future “go live” URL into each field. Each school within your district will have a unique domain, with sub-domains for individual school websites. In Composer, every school will be assigned its own domain. In Composer, every school will be assigned its own domain.
Sample URL Structure: schoolname1.yourdistricturl.org
- Motto (optional): This is a great way to add a phrase to your website to encapsulate your core values or district focus. Some of the themes in our library have a spot to showcase or highlight your motto.
- Subtitle: A subtitle may be an extension of your core values or another way to highlight the unique aspects of your district or school’s approach to education.
Important Notes on URLs
- District URLs are taken from NCES.
- School URLs are abbreviated from the school name to serve as the subdomain.
- Duplicate URLs will not be allowed.
- For example:
- District Domain: lebanonct.org
- Elementary School Domain: les.lebanonct.org
- Middle School Domain: lms.lebanonct.org
- High School Domain: lmhs.lebanonct.org
Tab 3. Logos and Assets
Here you will upload the logos that will be used on your site!
Logo Definitions
Primary Logo URL
The Primary Logo is the color version of your logo that appears in the header of your new website. Click Browse to search for and attach (or drag and drop) the logo that will represent the district or school of that row.

- Upload once and apply it to other schools!
Primary Logo Alt-Text
Providing alt text enhances accessibility, searchability, and overall user experience.
Secondary Logo URL
This is the color version of your logo to be used in the footer.
Secondary Logo Alt-Text
Add alt-text for this logo, as well.
Primary Thumbnail URL
This is the white version of a logo to be used if there is a dark background in your header.
Primary Alt-Text
Enter alt-text for your primary thumbnail.
Secondary Thumbnail URL
This is the white version of a logo to be used if there is a dark background in your footer.
Secondary Thumbnail Alt-Text
Enter alt-text for your secondary thumbnail image.
Favicon
This is the small square icon that represents a website and appears in the browser tab next to the page title, and bookmarks bar.
- The best size for a favicon is 16 x 16 px or 32 x 32 px.
Important Note on White vs Color Logos
Entering full color logos for all of the logo fields may result in a poor outcome against a primary color background header or footer. A few suggestions:
- Test out both your color and white versions of logos in Tab 6. as you are test driving the theme you choose!
- You'll see an option to choose an alternate white background in the Live Demo if this is what you prefer.
Logo Quick Actions
Once you upload a logo, hover over your logo to open up the logo quick actions.
- Copy to this row: Click this button to automatically populate this logo to other fields in this row.

Copy to this column: Clicking this will copy this logo to other schools in the same column.
Tab 4. Colors
This area of LaunchPad will determine the colors that will be added to your website.
Each site can have two colors:

Main Color: This is the color that typically represents your brand identity, used to create a consistent and cohensive look.
- The main color must pass color contrast requirements for accessibility.

Accent Color: This color highlights key elements and draws attention to specific areas such as buttons, links, and headings, complementing the main color. Will need to pass accessibility as the accent.
- The accent color does not need to pass color contrast requirements for accessibility.
Important Note
The way that your colors are featured on your site may depend on the Theme that you choose.
How to enter your colors
- Step 1: Find the hex code for the color you’d like to enter and try out.

Step 2: Once you enter the hex code, click enter and a swatch will appear alongside the code.

Did you Fail the Contrast test? LaunchPad will display Choose Alternative Color which can help you find a color that is able to pass.
- Try a lighter color in the Accent Color column.
- Hover over the color swatch and a Copy button will appear, allowing you to copy a color to all schools.

- Step 3: Approve all colors.
Try out your colors in Tab 6!
Remember the system will automatically save your selections even if you don’t Approve them. You can soon go into Tab 6. Themes to try out your colors before you make your final submissions.
Tab 5. SEO Settings (optional)
Here you’ll set a unique identifier to connect your website to Google Analytics where you can obtain valuable insights about user behavior, traffic sources, and engagement metrics. This, in a nutshell, gives you great data on how users interact with your pages.
Important Notes
- Some prefer to enter their Google Analytics account details after site launch.
- Should you choose not to enter SEO Settings now, it's still necessary to approve this tab.
- Bookmark our help article, “Set up Google Analytics 4 on a Composer site” to assist you with the setup once you are ready!
Before you start to enter your SEO Settings, you need to create a Google Analytics account. Check out the Google help area, “Get started with Analytics.”
Once you complete the GA process, you will need to gather and prepare the following information to enter into Launchpad:
- Google GA4 ID
- Custom Google tag manager ID
- Default head title: This will appear in the browser tab and is used by search engines to understand the main topic of a page.
- Default meta description: These details provide a brief summary of a web page’s content, typically around 50-60 characters. It will appear in the search engine description.
- Default meta keywords: These are specific keywords and phrases that describe the content of the web page. While their importance in SEO has diminished over time, they can still provide context to search engines about the page's content.
Tab 6. Themes
This final tab is where you will get to browse through all of the themes and “try out” your favorites.
- Scroll through the Theme Library and select a theme inside the LaunchPad platform.
- Once your theme opens up, click on the red Demo button that hovers on the left-hand side of the theme.
- Add the key features of your details as needed in the left option panel.
- Preview each option, assisting you with a "test drive" feature to get a feel for what your future site can look like!
