Uploading errors: missing "upload file" link

This article explains how to fix a missing "upload file" link in the legacy Finalsite File Manager, including how to grant an admin user group upload rights to a specific folder.

💡Quick answers

  • Why is the upload file link missing in File Manager? The admin user group viewing that folder is not authorized to upload files there.
  • Granting an admin group upload rights to a folder? Steps: have a Site Admin open the admin user group's settings, click Select Group Folders, check the R column box for the folder, and check the U column box to allow uploads.
  • What does the U column control in File Manager folder permissions? It grants members of the admin user group the privilege to upload files into that folder and its sub-folders.
  • What does the D column control in File Manager folder permissions? It sets which folder opens by default when members of that admin user group first open File Manager.
  • Is this article about the current Resources module or an older tool? It's about the legacy File Manager product; Finalsite recommends using Resources instead, available from the folder icon in the left navigation.

This article refers to our legacy product, File Manager. For the best Finalsite experience, we recommend using our newest product, Resources, which is already available to you in left navigation by clicking on the folder icon. Learn more at "Resources overview."

Problem: The "upload file" link is missing.

Solution: Members of your admin user group are not authorized to upload files to the folder you are currently viewing.

Have a Site Admin access the settings for your Admin User Group.

Click the gray "Select Group Folders" button.

In the window that pops up, select the checkbox in the "R" column for the folder in question.

Select the checkbox in the "U" column as well to grant members of that admin user group privileges to upload files into all sub-folders as well.

The radio buttons in column "D" will select which folder will open by default when members of the admin user group first open File Manager.
