This article outlines the Facebook source types available in Finalsite Feeds, including setup requirements for business pages and photo albums and known API limitations.
💡Quick answers
- What Facebook source types are supported? Business (non-personal) pages and public photo albums. Facebook hashtags and groups are no longer supported by the Facebook API.
- What is required to add a business page? The vanity URL or numeric page ID, with no age or country restrictions enabled on the page.
- Can the feed include posts by other users? Yes; enabling the "include posts that mention my page" option pulls in posts by other users posted to the page.
- Are Facebook hashtags or groups supported? No; Facebook's API no longer allows hashtags or Facebook groups as Feeds sources.
Step 1: Select Facebook in the Feeds module
In Composer, open the module menu on the left sidebar and select Feeds. Click the red + Add social media source button, then select Facebook from the Add a Social Media Source window.
Step 2: Configure a business page source
Business pages can be entered using either a vanity URL or a numeric page ID. For help claiming a vanity URL, see Claim a custom Facebook username (vanity URL).
- Enter the Facebook page vanity URL (e.g.,
finalsite) or numeric page ID (e.g.,59975660449) into the source field. - To include posts by other users posted to the page, enable the Include posts that mention my page option.
- Confirm the Facebook page does not have age or country restrictions enabled, as these will prevent the profile image and other content from displaying.
- Save the source.
Step 3: Configure a photo album source
A public Facebook photo album can be added as a separate source. Try viewing the album URL while logged out of Facebook to confirm it is public before proceeding.
- Locate the album ID in the album's URL. For example, in
https://www.facebook.com/pg/yourFacebookID/photos/?album_id=808281485921170, the album ID is808281485921170. - Add a tilde before the album ID:
~808281485921170. - Enter the tilde-prefixed album ID into the Facebook Page Vanity URL field and save. Feeds will pull in the photos from that album and any new posts going forward.
Identify API restrictions
