Create a Twitter/X Feeds source

This article outlines the Twitter/X source types available in Finalsite Feeds, including setup for username and hashtag sources and current hashtag restrictions.

💡Quick answers

  • What Twitter/X source types are available? Username (tweets from any public account) and Hashtag (posts from any public account using a specific hashtag).
  • Can retweets and replies be included? Yes; checkboxes in the source configuration allow including retweets and/or replies alongside standard tweets.
  • Are hashtag sources still fully supported? Hashtag capability is more restricted now than in the past. See the article on why hashtag social media posts may be missing in Feeds for details.

Step 1: Select Twitter/X in the Feeds module

In Composer, open the module menu on the left sidebar and select Feeds. Click the red + Add social media source button, then select X (Twitter) from the Add a Social Media Source window.

Step 2: Configure a username source

The username source displays tweets from any public Twitter/X account. The username is found in the account's profile URL (e.g., from https://twitter.com/finalsite, the username is finalsite).

  • Enter the username into the source field.
  • Optionally check the boxes to include retweets and/or replies in the feed.
  • Save the source.

Step 3: Configure a hashtag source

  • Click the Hashtag option when adding a new Twitter/X source.
  • Enter the hashtag into the field. The # symbol is not required. Posts from any public account using that hashtag will display.
  • Save the source. Note that hashtag capability is more restricted now than in the past.
