Create a LinkedIn Feeds source

This article outlines the LinkedIn source type in Finalsite Feeds, including which page types are supported and the API restrictions that affect content display.

💡Quick answers

  • What LinkedIn account types can be added? Only company or school pages; personal profiles are not supported due to LinkedIn's restrictive API.
  • Can LinkedIn video posts be displayed? No; the LinkedIn API does not support video posts for third-party display.
  • How many historical posts can Feeds retrieve? Approximately 10 historical posts; new posts are retrieved on an ongoing basis after the source is connected.
  • Are post dates and multi-image posts supported? No; the LinkedIn API does not provide post dates or support multi-image posts for third-party display.

Step 1: Select LinkedIn in the Feeds module

In Composer, open the module menu on the left sidebar and select Feeds. Click the red + Add social media source button, then select LinkedIn from the Add a Social Media Source window.

Step 2: Configure the LinkedIn source

  • Enter the LinkedIn company or school page identifier into the source field. Only company and school pages are supported; personal profiles cannot be added.
  • Save the source. Feeds will retrieve approximately 10 historical posts and pull in new posts going forward.

Identify API restrictions

The LinkedIn API imposes several restrictions that affect how content displays in Feeds:

  • Video posts from LinkedIn cannot be displayed.
  • Feeds cannot link to individual LinkedIn posts; clicking a post redirects to the front of the LinkedIn company page.
  • Only approximately 10 historical posts are retrievable; new posts are obtained going forward.
  • Post dates are not available from the LinkedIn API and will not display.
  • Multi-image posts are not supported.
