Create a Tumblr Feeds source

This article outlines the Tumblr source types available in Finalsite Feeds, including setup for username sources and hashtag sources and account privacy requirements.

💡Quick answers

  • What Tumblr source types are available? Username (all posts from a public Tumblr blog) and Hashtag (posts from any public account using a specific hashtag).
  • Does the Tumblr account need to be public? Yes; any privacy settings enabled on the account will prevent Feeds from displaying content.
  • Where is the Tumblr username found? In the blog's URL; for example, from http://generalelectric.tumblr.com, the username is generalelectric.

Step 1: Select Tumblr in the Feeds module

In Composer, open the module menu on the left sidebar and select Feeds. Click the red + Add social media source button, then select Tumblr from the Add a Social Media Source window.

Step 2: Configure a username source

The username source displays all posts from a public Tumblr blog. The account must not have any privacy settings enabled.

  • Locate the username from the Tumblr blog URL. For http://generalelectric.tumblr.com, the username is generalelectric.
  • Enter the username into the source field and save.

Step 3: Configure a hashtag source

  • Enter the hashtag into the source field. Posts from any public Tumblr account using that hashtag will be displayed.
  • Save the source.
