This article details how to configure a Slack Feeds source in Finalsite Feeds, including how to connect a Slack account and which channel content is available for display.
💡Quick answers
-
Is a Slack account connection required? Yes; all Slack data is private by default, so the school Slack account must be connected to Feeds on the
Your Social Connectionspage before any content can be pulled in. - What Slack content can be displayed? All messages, including media, from any Slack channel the connected account is a member of.
- Are private Slack channels supported? Only channels the connected account is a member of are accessible; content from channels the account cannot access will not be available.
Step 1: Select Slack in the Feeds module
In Composer, open the module menu on the left sidebar and select Feeds. Click the red + Add social media source button, then select Slack from the Add a Social Media Source window.
Step 2: Connect the Slack account and configure the channel
- Navigate to the
Your Social Connectionspage in Feeds and connect the school Slack account. This step is required before any Slack content can be retrieved. - Provide the name of the Slack workspace and the
#channelto pull content from. The connected account must be a member of that channel. - Save the source. Feeds will pull in every new message posted to that channel going forward, including any media attachments.
