This article outlines how to configure a Flickr Feeds source in Finalsite Feeds, including setup for username sources and album sources and how content is displayed from the Flickr API.
💡Quick answers
- What Flickr source types are available? Username (all photos from a user across all boards) and Album (photos from a specific album).
- How are Flickr albums displayed in Feeds? As individual photos rather than as albums; this is a limitation of Flickr's API.
- Does account privacy affect Flickr sources? Yes; both the user's posts and albums must be public for content to display in Feeds.
Step 1: Select Flickr in the Feeds module
In Composer, open the module menu on the left sidebar and select Feeds. Click the red + Add social media source button, then select Flickr from the Add a Social Media Source window.
Step 2: Configure a username source
The username source pulls in all photos posted by a Flickr user. The account must be public for content to display.
- Locate the Flickr username from the account's profile URL (e.g., from
https://www.flickr.com/photos/vetbonkie/, the username isvetbonkie). - Enter the username into the source field and save.
Step 3: Configure an album source
The album source pulls in photos from a specific Flickr album. The album must have no privacy settings enabled.
- Locate the album ID in the album's URL. For example, in
https://www.flickr.com/photos/vetbonkie/albums/72157653439738204, the album ID is72157653439738204. - Add an asterisk before the album ID:
*72157653439738204. - Enter the asterisk-prefixed album ID into the source field and save.
Understand API display behavior
Due to how Flickr imports content from its API, Flickr content in Feeds displays as individual photos rather than as grouped albums, regardless of whether a username or album source is configured.
