What are Elements?
Elements are the fundamental building blocks of your Composer pages. Learn more about how elements work in the article, "Understanding elements" and read about each of the 5 tabs in the element library: Standard, Module, Layout, Social, and Shared.
The first tab of the Element Library is the Standard tab, open by default. Clicking on the name of each element in bullets below will take you to the article that explains more about how each one works.
List of all Standard Elements
Here are all of the elements that live in the Standard tab of the Element Library
- Account element: When placed in Composer, allows site users to access their site profile, Activity Stream messages, and activity history, as well as log into or out of the site.
-
Content element: The Content element is the most basic building block in Composer, and it can accept any kind of text, image, or rich content.
- Use a content element for unique content that is not generated by other Finalsite modules.
- Content elements can contain images, embeds, links, or any other content you want to add.
- Clicking the striped blue box will bring up the Finalsite editor, allowing you to type or paste in text, add images, and more.
- Embed element: The Embed element is used to present rich material that's hosted on a third-party site. Many sites that allow users to upload and share content give each piece of content a unique "embed code," a snippet of HTML that will allow that content to be displayed elsewhere.
- Image element: Displays a single image from Resources. Any image inside of an Image element will automatically fill the width of the container the element is displayed in. Moving to a wider space means the image will stretch to fill without any adjustment. Returning to a smaller space automatically resizes the image to the new constraints.
- Live Streaming/Live Streaming Tools element: Used to display streaming content made available through Finalsite’s partnership with LocalLive. For more information about how to get LocalLive for your organization, please contact your Client Success Manager or email clientsuccess@finalsite.com.
- Navigation element: Dynamically generates the list of links that allow your visitors to find their way around the site. Additionally, it offers a Breadcrumbs option to let users know where they are within your site.
- Personal Reports element: Allows logged-in parents to view any reports for their children. Reports are displayed with the most recent report first, with the student’s name in parentheses after the report title.
- Resource element: Provide a way to display media and resources on your site.
- Search element: Allows users to perform searches with advanced features like exact-match phrases, exclusion phrases, and live results preview. Admins can manage these features through the Search Tools menu in Composer, enhancing the search experience on the site.
- Unsubscribe Form element: Placing this element on a Composer page allows site visitors to submit an Unsubscribe Form when they wish to opt-out of any communication. Once you create a Composer page with an Unsubscribe Form element, you can then set this page in Domain Settings > Landing Pages to make this page more visible on your site.
- Video element: The Video element displays a single video from Resources. It will automatically fill the width of the container the element is displayed in.
